Answer by Rabbi Benyomin Walters

It is a basic tenet of our faith

(one of Maimonides's 13 principles of faith)

that "G-d reveals Himself to man." Although

full blown prophecy remains beyond regular

people, this principle also includes the idea that

each of us can understand something of G-d and

His ways, know His will and comprehend something

of His wisdom. Generally, our perception of G-dliness

is strictly proportional to our efforts to study His

ways and to emulate them in good deeds. Sometimes,

however, we are given moments of clarity and inspiration

from above to help spur us on our way. Our job is to

immediately take these flashes of inspiration and

bring them to action, or else they disappear like

a passing dream. If, instead, we take action,

the inspiration becomes a seed that takes root in

our deeds and blossoms into a fruit bearing tree.

Hope this helps!

Your Rabbi Son
